Earlier today, Audi AG added a new microsite to its world website at www.Audi.com. The ‘TT Lounge’ offered several new pieces of information about the second generation Audi sportscar. Most notably, the coupe version of the car will debut on April 6, live online via the TT Lounge microsite. Between now and that time, visitors to the site can download a PC-only screensaver, order downloads to their cell phones, sign up for an electronic newsletter offering the latest news about the TT and enter a contest to take part in a TT driving experience. One aspect of the microsite is a sneak peek front image of the car. Audi makes it difficult to see much of the car, and impossible to see it all in one view in their FLASH presentation, though the above photograph shows an interpretation of the image piece-mailed together. Combine this photo with last January’s initial photos of a barely disguised TT Coupe and Roadster caught in winter testing were published in automotive news outlets including this one, and you can get a pretty good idea of what the new car will look like.
At the time of the initial spy photos, many speculated that the TT would either debut at last week’s Geneva Auto Show or at the Paris Auto Show in September. It seems Audi thwarted both theories with this surprise unveiling planned for April 6. Could this pave the way for a New York Auto Show debut for the car the following week? Such an occurrence is both possible and timely, though final confirmation remains to be made. We’re hoping Audi AG makes the decision to show in New York – one of the brand’s top markets in North America and one of the most important markets in the world. Recent rumors surrounding the new TT point toward engine availability of both Audi’s popular 2.0T and the 3.6 FSI from the soon-to-be-launched Audi Q7.
