This weekend the sporting world is yet again held spellbound by Kitzbühel, where the famous Hahnenkamm race – for many the absolute highlight of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup – will be staged for as much as the 66th time. Before the athletes get to crown their king on the legendary "Streif" under the eyes of the international jet set, everyone came together at the hotel "Zur Tenne" on Friday for the traditional Audi Night. Stars from the world of sports, entertainment, business and nobility celebrated the start to this superlative skiing weekend until daybreak.

As early as in the afternoon, the footballers of FC Bayern München ventured into territory that was both unusual and thrilling for them. One day before a friendly match in Uerdingen, AUDI AG’s partner used the opportunity of an excursion to Kitzbühel to participate in the Audi driving experience there. Together with manager Uli Hoeneß, Oliver Kahn, Michael Ballack, Roy Makaay and their team-mates first completed a slalom course and manoeuvring tests in the new Audi Q7 and other Audi cars. Afterwards, Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen and 2004 DTM Champion Mattias Ekström took the football stars across the snow and ice track on a few "hot laps”.

The guest list of the traditional Audi Night was exclusive again this year: Veronica Ferres, Christine Neubauer and Thomas Gottschalk were in attendance, as were Luitpold Prinz von Bayern and Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone. Prominent representatives of the worlds of business and fashion were Herbert Hainer, chairman of adidas-Salomon, and designer Willy Bogner. As the host of the event, the executive board of AUDI AG showed presence: Chairman Prof Dr Martin Winterkorn, Ralph Weyler (Marketing and Sales), Dr Jochem Heizmann (Production) and Erich Schmitt (Purchasing) welcomed their guests. After their driving experience, FC Bayern stars Oliver Kahn and Roy Makaay also celebrated in the "Tenne”.

The fact that AUDI AG is completely in its element in snow and ice was definitely brought home to the guests this weekend. Apart from the opportunity to thoroughly test the legendary quattro drive during the driving experience, a total of 70 Audi Q7, A8 and A6 cars were available to the VIP guests of the Hahnenkamm race as shuttle vehicles.

The partnership with the Hahnenkamm race in Kitzbühel is only part of AUDI AG’s involvement in alpine skiing. Since the 2002/2003 season, Audi has been giving its name to the World Cup, which comprises 77 races this Olympic winter season. For over 20 years, Audi has been supporting the German Skiing Association (DSV) including its national teams and is the partner of the alpine national teams from Sweden, Finland, France and Switzerland as well. Athletes and officials value the advantages of the quattro drive of the Audi vehicles which take them safely to the World Cup events. Also, the athletes regularly practice at Audi’s ultra-modern wind tunnel centre in Ingolstadt in order to gain a crucial advantage in the fierce competition.
